Faith Wainwright, MBE, FREng
President of the Institution of Structural Engineers

Faith is Head of Skills and Knowledge at Arup. She leads Arup’s Skills Networks, which are the backbone of technical excellence in the firm. Faith was the first global leader of the Structural Skills Network in Arup and has contributed to many award winning structures.

Faith is a champion of education – she has been  vice-chair of the JBM, and in Arup was instrumental in establishing Arup University and the Masters Programme delivered with academic partners. She has also been an advocate of SCOSS and CROSS to foster learning and sharing.

She holds an Honorary Doctorate from Bath University, is an Honorary Fellow of St Edmund Hall, Oxford, and is a non-Executive Director of the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), funded through Innovate UK.


Faith will delivering her kynote presentation on ‘Challenging the Normal’, highlighting developments in formal and work-based education and demonstrating their impact on the iconic structures and future direction of structural engineering in the global environment
